Standard Products Inc. is committed to taking appropriate measures to maintain the security of the information it holds and to ensure the protection of the personal and confidential information it collects and processes.

This confidentiality and personal data management policy reflect this commitment and has been drawn up in accordance with the requirements of the Private Sector Privacy Act. The rules implemented by Standard Products Inc. consider issues arising from the use of technology and the digital environment.

The purpose of this policy is to inform individuals from whom Standard Products Inc. collects personal information by means of technology of its personal information management and processing practices.

It is the responsibility of the visitors of our site to ensure that they have read, understand and consent to our personal data handling practices prior to using our website or transmitting any personal information by any technological means.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not submit your information to us electronically or use our website.

Standard Products Inc. reserves the right to update or modify the Privacy Policy without prior notice. In the event of a change, the “Last Updated” date at the top of the page will be adjusted.

Standard Products Inc. collects personal information only when it is necessary for an identified purpose, in full transparency and with the valid consent of the individuals concerned, except in cases where consent is not required by law.

In the present policy, the term “Personal Information” refers to any information concerning an individual that makes it possible, directly or indirectly, to identify that person or to confirm his or her identity.

We collect the personal information you provide when you communicate with us, including when you use our website. The personal information we collect in this context includes your name, e-mail address, telephone number and IP address. We will use this personal information to respond to your inquiry or to send you e-mail alerts to which you have subscribed.

In addition to computerized forms on the website, Standard Products Inc. may also collect personal information through forms, telephone interviews, questionnaires, at various times, for example when you:

  • Are a Customer:
    • Account opening, access and transactions on our B2B system;

  • Consent to receive marketing communications;
  • Participate in a survey, poll or contest via our social networks;
  • Send Standard Products Inc. any document containing personal information;
  • Contact customer support or after-sales service.

As part of a hiring process:

If you apply for a job through the “Careers” page of our website, we will collect personal information contained in your application or generated as part of your job application to evaluate your application and determine whether to offer you employment. This includes information about your work history and qualifications, as well as your name, home address and contact details.

If you are hired, the information will be retained, used and disclosed in accordance with our Employee Privacy Policy.

If you do not receive an offer of employment or decline an offer of employment, we may retain this information for a reasonable period of time in the event that a suitable position becomes available, or you reapply.

The purposes for which we collect personal information may be

  • To provide, maintain, execute, and improve our services.
  • To conduct research, development, statistics, and data analysis, including to improve the customer or employee experience and to understand your needs.
  • To send you communications that may be of interest to you, including information about our products, services, promotions, and news.

We collect, use, and disclose your personal information internally or to third parties with your consent, or as otherwise permitted or required by law. Your consent may be express or implied, depending on the circumstances and the sensitivity of the personal information in question. If you provide us with personal information, we will assume that you consent to its collection, use and disclosure as identified to you at the time of collection and as described in this policy.

Standard Products Inc. retains collected personal information only for the minimum period required by legal and regulatory deadlines. Once the retention period has expired, documents containing personal information are securely, completely, and permanently destroyed, whether they are on paper or electronically.

In some cases, Standard Products Inc. may anonymize the personal information it holds instead of destroying it completely. Anonymization permanently and irreversibly breaks the link between the information and your identity. In such cases, we are committed to respecting recognized best practices for anonymization.

Your personal information is stored via cloud services whose servers are mainly located in Canada. However, your personal information may be stored on other servers located outside Quebec, such as in the United States or Europe, where privacy laws may not guarantee similar protection like that of your jurisdiction. All outside suppliers, agents, affiliates, and contractors working on behalf of Standard Products Inc. who have access to your personal information are required to protect your personal information in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy. Your personal information will only be shared with them to the extent that such sharing is necessary for the performance of their contract or mandate.

Standard Products Inc. may disclose your personal information if it is required to complete a business transaction. If a commercial transaction is concluded, you will be notified if the third party continues to hold your information. Under no circumstances will these transactions allow personal information to be used for purposes other than those for which you have consented.

Standard Products Inc. uses technology to collect, store, use, communicate and destroy personal information. Appropriate security and cybersecurity measures are implemented at various levels to protect personal information processed by technological means.

However, despite all these measures, the use of technology always represents a risk of a confidentiality incident that could undermine the protection of your information. By entrusting Standard Products Inc. with your personal information, you admit that you are aware of the risks associated with the use of technology.

The security measures we have put in place include the following:

  • Physical security measures (secure access to our premises and secure locations for our equipment).
  • Administrative security measures (authorizing access to your personal information only to those employees who need it to perform their duties).
  • Technological security measures (passwords, data encryption, firewalls).

If Standard Products Inc. is made aware of an incident involving a breach of confidentiality involving your personal information and that this incident represents a risk of serious harm to you, you will be notified in writing. In such a case, the Access to Information Commission will also be notified.

A confidentiality incident is any unauthorized access, use or disclosure of personal information, as well as the loss of such information or any other breach in the protection of such information.
