At STANDARD, we take responsibility for the waste we produce in an effort to reduce our footprint on the environment year after year. Our goal is to become a leader in our industry in terms of sustainability. This is why we strive every year to improve in specific areas such as recycling, responsible waste disposal and the promotion of sustainable consumption. In 2017, STANDARD was the proud winner of the EFC Award in the Sustainability category.
2) People (Community, Employees’ Well-Being)
STANDARD cares deeply about the well-being of its people. Following are some of the initiatives that STANDARD has implemented to help balance personal and professional life:
- Wellness month in February, including free massages, healthy recipes, etc.
- Yoga classes at lunch time
- Financial support for fitness
- Stop smoking program
- BBQs, lunch and parties for team building
- Opportunity to work from home
STANDARD is also involved in its community:
STANDARD has invested time, donated lighting products and money to the Habitat for Humanity’s cause since 2016. A story that helped many Canadian families to emerge from poverty.
Each year, in collaboration with EFC, STANDARD awards scholarship to a Canadian student who demonstrates academic excellence in promoting the Electrical industry.
STANDARD wants to make Christmas a special occasion and help kids in need! So, every year, we participate in Operation Christmas Child, pioneered by Samaritan’s Purse Canada.
Every year, STANDARD supports the Royal Canadian legion by donating $1 on behalf of each STANDARD employee to allow them to wear a poppy on Remembrance Day.
The BCNPHA supports and empowers its member through education and STANDARD, as lighting expert, is the perfect partner to educate the association’s members about the impact of lighting.
