Stanpro’s Training and Lighting Solutions Centre

Stanpro’s training and lighting solutions centre is a state-of-the-art expression of our industry experience and of our never-ending commitment to lighting innovation and to “Bringing designs to light”. This corporate mission is achieved by offering a dynamic hands-on experience led by a certified lighting professional trainer and analyst in an interactive learning environment and training theatre.

At Stanpro, we had the aim to create a unique space that demonstrates lighting in many different types of environments: from design ideas to real life applications, using a variety of lighting fixtures in order to achieve architectural brilliance. Coupled with this inspiration area, we designed a warm, comfortable and safe space where technical and certification training can take place. Training at all levels can happen here: from novice to expert, and for a wide audience ranging from our own staff to wholesalers, architects, designers, engineering firms, contractors and other lighting professionals.

Our professional trainer: Peer Eric Moldvar

With an academic background in engineering and administration, Eric Moldvar has worked for more than 30 years within various organizations in all fields of lighting, including retail, distribution and manufacturing sectors. His in-depth knowledge of light sources, lighting calculation methods and various manufacturing processes makes him an indispensable industry leading resource and the reference at our training and lighting solutions centre.

A past member of the Montreal chapter of the IES Administrative Council of the IES, today he devotes much of his time to training and certification. As well as lecturing at the Montreal chapter of IES and the École Polytechnique de Montréal, he is an authorized AGI32 trainer of Lighting Analysts. In 2009 he became a member of the IES Committee (RP22) responsible for the development of lighting standards for tunnels and viaducts.

The advantages of hands-on training

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”
Benjamin Franklin

Many of us have spent countless hours reading technical documents and grappling with abstract concepts. However, when it comes down to learning skills (not theory) and processes (not philosophy), listening to someone tell you about it is simply not effective.

Hands-on learning, or experiential learning, is one of few learning methods that can have a dramatic impact on the participant’s mindset. The visualizations used in our hands-on training sessions are based on real life scenarios. They will reflect both the challenges and opportunities faced in professional lighting projects. They will also present the practical solutions to overcome and embrace them.

Our hands-on training will include fundamental theory, moving beyond theory to the realm of learning by doing. Experiential learning is highly effective in nature, influencing creative thinking as well as enhancing knowledge and skills. We employ it heavily at our training and lighting solutions centre.

The nitty-gritty: it’s not all about creativity!

“The difference between something good and something great is attention to detail.”
Charles R. Swindoll

Creativity in lighting is a function of knowledge, curiosity, imagination, and evaluation. The greater your knowledge base and grasp of detail, the more ideas, patterns, and combinations you can achieve, which then correlates to creating new and innovative spaces.

Advance your knowledge of complex lighting technology and energy-efficient strategies during one of our comprehensive training sessions and learn to:

  • Identify the different artificial sources of light and correctly recommend solutions according to different lighting objectives.
  • Distinguish and understand the different principles of light control associated with the components of a luminaire.
  • Understand the interaction of different parameters used to calculate a level of illumination.
  • Analyse illumination level calculations for indoor and outdoor spaces.

Stanpro is dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, design and innovation exemplified by our hands-on state-of-the-art training and lighting solutions centre in Montreal. We are committed to the continual involvement of, and interaction with, customers from coast to coast to experience the Stanpro difference. We believe that this is a huge step towards greater brand recognition, customer satisfaction and positions Stanpro as a leader in the Canadian lighting industry.
